This is definitely the place to try if you’re in the mood for something different.
We began with some great cocktails and then were confronted by Archipelago’s very fascinating menu.
Our starters were (more imaginatively titled) peacock and crocodile dishes. Both of which were delicious. My main course of kangaroo was good but a bit overspiced, so it was hard to fully appreciate the flavour of the meat but the Egyptian lamb was apparently really good.
It is probably best to avoid the novelty items they try to throw at you. For example the love-bug salad, which was basically salad with a few locusts thrown in. Not unpleasant, but for £7 I would rather have had another cocktail!
This place is on the expensive side but is definitely a great place for a special occasion dinner. However, vegetarians will probably not be so taken by it as the best thing about Archipelago is the unusual selection of meat dishes.
